Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging
one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV)
This passage of scripture has always stirred me. Perhaps the vivid words, like, 'unswervingly' and 'spur' create this? As we launch into the fall season, my hope is that you're stirred, spurred, stimulated, motivated, inspired, encouraged, and ready for the God-nudges. You can listen to the Sunday, Sept 4th sermon to learn more about God-nudges (www.gateway4.com). It is not a matter of 'if' God will nudge; it is a matter of 'when' He will nudge and 'how' we will respond.
For me, the nudges include three main areas:
#1 ENGAGE prayer-life. Take prayer more seriously and do-it more consistently.
Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
#2EXERCISE daily. Find ways to move. Health focus for body, soul, spirit.
Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 1 Thessalonians 5:23
#3ELIMINATE sugar and dough. Ok, limit the intake of these temptations. If losing a few pounds happens in the process, that would be fine by me.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
Well, there you have it! That may be too personal, but a wise person once said, transparency and vulnerability are the key to humility. I'm learning to lean into the God-nudges. Thank you in advance for your grace, patience, and support as Gateway navigates the season ahead. We have some exciting options for you to KNOW/GROW/GO. Join us Sept 18th for the fall Connections Fair.
Cheering for you!
